MatterControl is a single software for designing and slicing. From the MatterHackers site:
"MatterControl is a free, open-source, all-in-one software package that lets you design, slice, organize, and manage your 3D prints. With MatterControl, you can design your parts from scratch using the Design Tools, or visit the Design Apps to browse existing projects. You can also slice your designs using a variety of advanced settings for customized support generation, software bed leveling, and integrated controls for dual extrusion using powerful 64-bit processing. When you have all the variables managed, you can print straight from MatterControl - no need for multiple programs - MatterControl does it all."
I'm currently testing MatterControl as a replacement for Cura, FlashPrint, and MakerBot Print. The information below will help you set up MatterControl. Information specific to each printer can be found on the printer's page in the 3D Printing section of the Makersmiths Wiki.
- Go to https://www.matterhackers.com/store/l/mattercontrol/sk/MKZGTDW6
- Download the version for your operating system (~ 200MB)
- Install the software
- While it's installing, create an account on MatterHackers (optional). This will let you organize and store your work online so you can get to your files from any computer.
Setting Up Printers
Launch MatterControl and log in.
From the printer drop-down, select Add New Printer
3. In the Setup Wizard, use the drop-down to select Make and Model (see the 3D Printers page for printer settings and information).
Give it a name (ex. FlashForge Creator Pro @ MS-L)
Click Save & Continue
For the driver selection, click Skip at the bottom of the page.
On the next screen click Skip Connection Setup - we'll be using MatterControl to generate files to a folder or SD card.
Your printer is now available from the printer drop-down list.
