Leesburg Committee Notes: July 2021

Chair: Jessee Maloney

Members: Michael James & Tami Scannell

Completed Tasks:

  • A possibly temporary/possibly permanent sign was hung outside: Michael James put together a metal hanging sign and purchased a bracket online to hang it from. It looks fantastic.
  • The wall Behind the UV Printer has been painted, as well as two doors: As part of our new grand plan, we have started painting and updating walls and doors. The Wall behind the UV printer was first and is part of three sections in the main room. This is in conjunction with the room and machine stewards for the Main Room. The two doors were the Utility Closet in the Entryway, and the First door in the Main Room. Both were painted as useful chalkboards since we struggled cleaning the grime off of them. Way easier to just paint them.
  • The Big Red CNC Room was completely reorganized and cleaned: Tami and Brenham spent a few hours completely cleaning the CNC Room and building new storage for raw materials under the machine. No more mess!
  • Frosted Decals were added to the window in the main room: This way we have more light AND less gross shades.

In Progress Tasks Pertaining to the Membership Changes:

  • Redoing all signs that mention membership levels: Jessee has been requesting people check over each room to check for sign changes that need to be made on August 1st. Most Signs have already been designed and will be printed on Friday and installed Sunday morning. This is in conjunction with the Website and Design Committee.

In Progress Tasks:

  • Member Storage is Being Reorganized: Everyone on the committee has been slowly going through member storage to make sure its actually members stuff. Several things that were not have been relocated and more storage will be available soon.
  • The Cosplay Area: John Dubelko received permission to remove the non-load bearing wall in the basement as part of the cosplay renovations. However we can not continue until we have a permit AND have an electrician in to look at things.
  • Metal Shop: Brad Hess has started working on reorganizing and redesigning the metal shop. Once complete we will have proper storage for all endmills, a new home for the smaller CNC, plus other tools that are normally just stuck in there will have a proper home.

To-Do List:

  • We need an electrician to come through to look at outlets that are not working, plus add on plugs for the Roland UV Printer, multiple tools in the Metal Shop plus possibly more in the cosplay area.
  • The Woodshop bathroom is wasted space and needs to be finished
  • Drop ceilings need to be replaced in the main room, that way if we have any new leaks, we will know and not confuse the old leaks for new leaks. Plus, it will look nicer.
  • Finish painting the hallway on the right side.
  • The light bulbs need to be disposed of
  • AC Ductwork needs to be added to two vents in the main room in Leesburg, otherwise we are just continuing to cool/heat the ceiling area above the drop ceiling.
  • The area between the woodshop and member storage needs to be cleaned out and organized
  • The woodturning room needs to be worked on/completed
  • We need to schedule a monthly workday.  Saturday, JUly 14th has been suggested and will most likely be the day.
  • Run Ethernet Cables since we are having issues with machines, specifically BIG Red, connecting
  • Clean out the metal cabinets in the main room. The beige one on wheels is staying and will be painted to match the Arts & Crafts Area.
  • Main Entry Room needs some love. Maggie Toth has offered her help.
