Bylaws and Standing Rules

Jonathan White

  • There’s a channel #rules-and-bylaws-review where people are welcome to contribute. They’ll need a Makersmiths email to access the documents and they can be setup with one pretty quickly. Just join the channel and let Jonathan White know. It won’t be an immediate response though. Figuring out how best to have a committee review that’s manageable and balanced with getting input from the members.

Jessee Maloney

  • The Room Switch-A-Roo is still happening and in full swing! We need as many hands on deck during odd times throughout April & May. Please contact Jessee if you would like to work on projects that include woodworking, building and the cnc!
  • Things are finally settling in the main room! Electrician installed all the new necessary plugs and all the equipment is finally in its new home in the room. We appreciate your patience during this time. 

Marketing

  • Marketing is looking for help running the Leesburg Flower and Garden festival coming up soon! 
  • They are always looking for more committee members as well.
  • The Town of Purcellville would like to hear from Makersmiths about setting up a booth at the Purcellville Music and Arts Festival. The deadline for application is 4/8. The Festival is 4/27, noon to 7 pm.  Sally Soles has the contact information.

  • Melissa is ALWAYS looking for stories and photos for the newsletter! It doesn't have to be perfect, she is totally fine editing it all to make it fit. 
  • She is also looking for volunteers to help hunt down stories and photos! More hands equals less work all around.

Purcellville Facility

  • The Bridgeport that was moved from Leesburg to Purcellville is almost ready for use! Have you seen photos of it on SLACK?
  • Dave Painter will be unavailable for classes or helping with projects for a while. Ian Schue will host the work day at MSP on Saturday.

  • Please DM Diane Painter on the Scheduling Committee if you are interested in taking the lead on a family- friendly workshop this summer. In the past we have had electronic and soldering, Tinkercad, Arduino workshops- just as a few examples.

  • The kiln has run 3 times in March so all pots that were in the que are ready for pickup or glaze
  • We have an extruder that works great. Feel free to give it a go next time you're in, but be advised its a lot of cleanup.
  • I am planning a beginner wheel class and a balloon/coil pot class for late April. I would like a list of interested people. Please contact scheduling if interested!
  • @Kate Amstutz has offered to teach an intermediate/advanced wheel class. Bo would like a list of interested people for that as well.

Cosplay Area

  • Diane Bollinger was appointed as the new Sublimation Steward in Leesburg!
  • Classes will begin soon!
  • A new Hat Heat Press was purchased and can be used for sublimating, heat transfer vinyl and just attaching patches to hats! It's also great for anything curved. 
  • We need help building a shelf under the heat press for the mug press and the hat press to live.

  • Message from Mike Dewan: Please clean up the woodshop when you finish!!! Recent members have left with dust, wood chips, and tools over all surfaces. If the trash can is 2/3 or more full please empty it and place a new trash bag in the can. The woodshop steward does not have cleaning up after you as one of his responsibilities.
