CA1 Purchase of two 5 camera systems.  One for Purcellville and one for Leesburg

Problem: We currently don't have a good way to monitor the expensive equipment we have and tell who was using a tool when potential damage occurs

Leesburg (Just thoughts specific locations will be determined by the facility manager)

  1. Woodworking Shop
  2. Metalshop/Tormach
  3. Big Red
  4. Laser Cutter
  5. 3d printing or front hallway

Purcellville  (Just thoughts specific locations will be determined by the facility manager)

  1. Welding
  2. Powder coating
  3. EBF
  4. Woodshop
  5. Ceramics/Kilns

Solution: Purchase 2 Arlo 2 5 camera systems from Costco for 599.00 per setup.  Cost appox 1300.00 with tax

Relevance to our tax exempt status:

Motion:  I motion that the board approves the expenditure of no more then 1300.00 to purchase two camera systems.  One for each location.

    Do we have to pay tax on this since we are a 501(c)(3)?

    Yes, we will pay sales tax.  We are exempt from federal taxes and have not filed for state tax exemption. The state tax exemption process is lengthy and requires a massive amount of reporting because of past abuses. We can explore this for the future but for right now it does not make sense with the relativity small amount of taxable purchases we make currently.
